It all started with ISO certification.
In order to construct Sanwa Metal Industry’s quality management system, it was necessary to separate company operations into 5 departments and have each carry out their duties accordingly. Team SANWA has been built by each department setting its own goals and responsibly carrying out its operations, while thinking of the company as a whole. Lacking one of these departments, Team SANWA could not function. Moreover, the greater growth of the company is directly tied to the growth of each individual member. All of our employees recognize themselves as a member of a team, and for their colleagues, they are able to put in the hard work. It is my hope that we can continue to build our team this way.
The majority of Sanwa’s sales team has actual experience on the manufacturing floor.
Sales does not just consist of selling products to your customers. It is also important to listen to what your customers need and propose “how your company can uniquely address their issues” and “what other solutions are available (partnership with a contract manufacturer, etc.).” Conversely, I believe one should state clearly and unequivocally when there is something one cannot do. Ambiguous responses give rise to loss of trust. A solid understanding of your company is essential in building trust with your customers. For this purpose, Team SANWA prioritizes interdepartmental communication, incorporates new information daily, and offers information of its own, while carrying out its sales operations.
In the Engineering Department, we research product specifications, design manufacturing processes, and develop and manage drawings for the manufactured products. Gaining a firm of understanding of the customer demands conveyed to our sales team, we draw up blueprints so that our manufacturing section can smoothly produce what the customer desires. For this purpose, it is extremely important that we share information with the Sales Department, carry out meetings regarding product drawings with the Quality Assurance Department, and communicate thoroughly with the Production Department. As the section of Team SANWA where interdepartmental coordination is especially important, we make sure to internalize fully our partners’ ideas and opinions, while clearly and accurately conveying our own perspective. In order for the operations of our entire team to proceed smoothly, we concentrate on further improving our ability for discernment and decisiveness and strive to surpass our previous accomplishments in meeting our customers’ current and future needs.
The Quality Assurance Department draws up process inspections for each jobsite and carries out dimensional and visual exterior inspections in order to guarantee product quality. Together with the Engineering Department, we examine production processes and product specifications and confirm that the end result precisely meets the requirements of our customers. As part of our quality assurance operations, we also take action in the event a defect is detected. If a defect is discovered, we first investigate its cause and then come up with a solution to prevent its reoccurrence. Making sure not to condemn or issue one-sided directions at our worksites, we work together to determine why the defect occurred and how we can solve it. As the level of quality is directly connected to our customers’ trust, we always keep a level head and take diligent care to ensure no mistakes or oversights are made during operations.
The Management Department handles a wide array of company-wide administrative activities, from corporate planning and accounting to human resources/labor services, legal matters, facility maintenance, IT, and more. While we do not stand out as a department, as a major behind-the-scenes player, we concentrate on keeping the entire company functioning smoothly and constantly work at improving the working environment. We put all our energy into creating an environment where our employees can work comfortably, and our company can reach its full potential. Believing that strengthening trust between employees and the company increases the entire team’s comprehensive ability and leads to business customers can trust, we will continue pursuing our ideals.
The Production Department is divided into three divisions consisting of the “First Production Division” for manufacturing grease nipples, the “Second Production Division” for manufacturing made-to-order products, and the “Finishing Division” for final processing. As the central department for craftsmanship and manufacturing, we come together as a team and dedicatedly work day in and day out to ensure the products our customers desire are delivered when they demand.
While machines form a major part of operations, proper craftsmanship cannot be accomplished without the abilities and technical skill of people. With each member exercising their full ability and growing in the process, we are concentrating on cultivating our young talent and creating a working environment that helps Team SANWA raise its level of craftsmanship.
